Louisiana Crawfish and Crawfish Boil Photographs
We've been catching crawfish all our life, and love the Louisiana tradition of a long, leisurely crawfish boil in spring! From our earlier years fishing those roadside ditches along LA Highway 1 around Marksville, to now, we love crawfishing!
Many of us that live in Louisiana and the South have the opportunity to catch our own crawfish ... we own the nets and traps, and we have that special local bayou or swamp where we catch crawfish.
Crawfish nets are simple and easy to use. They are inexpensive, and easy to store. Bait is cheap, and plentiful.
Boiling crawfish is a Cajun tradition, an event and social gathering not to be rushed, but to be enjoyed with family and friends!
Fill your chest with ice, beer and cold drinks, gather up newspaper to spread on the outdoor tables, setup the lawn chairs, and begin the "process".

Let's get the boil under way ... Start with about 50 pounds of Spillway Crawfish, add salt, corn on the cob, new potatoes, whole onions, lemons, Zatarain's Crawfish, Shrimp and Crab Boil, red pepper, black pepper, garlic cloves ... make the hot sauce, warm up the buttered French bread, add cold beer, and share with good Cajun friends! |
